If you are using Google Apps Premier or Educational edition, you may get an error like "single sign-in feature is disabled for <
mydomain.com>" when you try to log in to Rapportive. Unfortunately Google's error message and instructions in this situation are unhelpful and misleading. What you really want to do is to get your domain admin to enable Federated Login: we give instructions below.
* From Google Apps, click "Manage this domain".
* In the blue bar, click on "Advanced tools".
* Under "Authentication", click "Federated Login using OpenID" (screenshot:
Allow Federated Login on Google Apps (1) on
Skitch.com by @
martinkl).
* Make sure the checkbox labelled "Allow users to sign in to third party websites using OpenID" is checked (screenshot above).
* Click "Save changes".
Please note: this does not give Rapportive any special access, or compromise the security of your account. Federated Login is enabled by default for regular Google Apps domains, but for some reason Google turns it off for Premier accounts!
