Hey Jim, I'm sure you're a busy guy but if you could indulge me for just a few seconds I have a quick question... My G5 display decided to go haywire recently. I'm typing on it now so that will give you an idea of how bad it is or isn't. If it were a color tv I'd say one of the guns is out. Here's the Q....is the video card imbedded in the motherboard or is it a replacable card? My s/n is QP72501LWH4 and accordind to the hardware overview for the graphics/display it has a GMA950 which I think is a ATI Radeon X1600. Thnx in advance for any assist.
As far as I am aware of, the video graphics display on the G5 iMacs was/is built into the MOB. I believe the backlight display comes from the Backlight Inverter board. The inverter board might be the case if you had no display.
